My purpose your reward

My purpose your reward

In this article I’ll continue my story about embroidery, and share why embroidery is important to me.

What motivates me?

Embroidery brings me joy. I fell in love with embroidery as a form of art, a form of beauty. I've been intrigued by the possibility of translating the images from my imagination into the physical world.

There’s something special about adorning a blank piece of material by means of needle and thread. To me, it is similar to the adornment of a canvas by means of paint and brush. The tranquility and focus I experience while embroidering are invaluable. Those moments of meditative calmness, where I am grounded and fully present, are so precious and hard to achieve in the realm of our complicated existence on this planet.

Learning and teaching embroidery is another motivator for me. My mission is to provide you with the information needed to make embroidery feel accessible and enjoyable.

When I receive messages filled with excitement because you've mastered the Colonial Knot after watching one of my tutorials, it brings me immense joy.

What are my goals?

My primary goal is to teach you to embroider confidently, and to inspire you to explore your creativity through hand embroidery.

My hope is that you make embroidery your own. Embroidery can become very personal, like the clothes you choose to wear, or the way you decorate your home.

What I wish for you is to discover your own area of talent with embroidery.

What types of stitches do you prefer? What kind of materials do you like handling? Wool, linen or cotton? What kind of designs do you prefer? Nature-inspired, or geometric? How far are you willing to go to develop your sense of color, and your own inventiveness?

To discover your preferences and talent, you will need to study a bit, acquire basic knowledge of embroidery, try things out, and experiment.

Your Rewards

The rewards you reap will be worth the effort. As with every type of learning, the beginning might take some patience, but once you get the hang of it, embroidery becomes so enjoyable.

You’ll start to feel more confident in your skills, and that’s when the real magic happens!

You might even find yourself slipping into a peaceful, almost meditative zone called the state of flow, where you're so focused and relaxed, you lose track of time. It’s one of the best feelings ever.

Plus, embroidery brings so many lovely benefits:

  • It helps you unwind and de-stress
  • It’s a fun way to express yourself creatively
  • You get that happy little buzz from finishing something beautiful
  • And you can make super special, handmade gifts for the people you love

Here is where you'll find my PDF embroidery patterns.

It helps me to know I've done a good job with the embroidery design instructions. Positive feedback from people who are pleased with the process or the final result truly make my day.

What about you, what motivates you to keep doing embroidery? I’m curious to know!

Thanks for stitching with me!
Stella
